About Internet Servers

Managing Internet servers has become a critical component in the lives of many businesses and organizations. In the early days of the Internet, and later the World Wide Web, servers played a less significant role. These were times when services were few and were used on a smaller scale than in today's environment for smaller portions of our daily work activities. If we had a problem accessing a server we just walked down the hall to the LAN administrator's office and inquired in person as to the nature of the problem. We just didn't have mission critical Internet--and intranet--services to worry about.

Things have changed dramatically in the past few years and whole new job categories have been created to assist users with access to Internet servers and services. We now depend on these servers much more than in the past and for more critical applications. In many situations, 100% server reliability and an ultra-quick response to problems are mandatory. In many computing environments, for example, the phrase "7x24x365 or your job" is the measure of just how important reliable access can be. Hopefully, access to your servers isn't quite so critical, but we all know that system administrators jump very high and very fast when someone calls to report that a server is down.

This is where PageSentry comes in. Instead of getting that phone call, wouldn't it be much better if you knew about a downed server before anyone else? PageSentry gives you the power to monitor the most popular kinds of Internet servers around the clock, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty five days a year. You can even have PageSentry page you when one of your servers is down.
